Authorisation will become necessary when a substance is published in Annex XIV of REACH – permission is needed for the manufacture, placing on the market and use of substance of very high concern (SVHC) itself, in mixtures and/or in articles. After the sunset date, the substance is only allowed to be used when the specific use (along the complete European supply chain) has been authorised by the authorities. Only very few exemptions may apply.

Authorisation is very complex, and time and cost intensive. Once a business need is identified it is essential to immediately start the Authorisation effort. This allows for an early determination of the business case for economic feasibility and proper management of the Authorisation initiative.

We can also support you with our expertise should you decide to pursue Authorisation. However, we again stress that it is of utmost importance to involve us early to allow for a well-planned strategy meeting the business needs.
